He began his career at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in 1980, earning his GG certification. He developed a deep understanding of gemology, diamond grading, design houses, mountings, and settings during his early career in his family’s jewelry and diamond business.
In 1998, he started K. Phillips & Co., Inc. in Miami, Florida, and in 2008, he created KP Gems in Austin, Texas. He continues to serve clients coast to coast and generation to generation.
